Jan van Blerk, a qualified and highly experienced horticulturist, established Greenside in 1996. He personally runs the nursery, ensuring top-quality service and expertise, which has earned recognition for excellence in gardening.

Over the years, numerous prestigious awards have been earned by Greenside Nursery. For instance, the Jimie Malan Trophy for the 2020 Garden Centre of the Year was awarded by the Garden Centre Association (GCA), which is part of the South African Nursery Association (SANA). Additionally, the Best of Bloemfontein award for Best Garden Centre in 2020 was received by Greenside.
